Nvidia is in talks for a $250B backstop to fuel OpenAI’s Ohio megaproject. The Wall Street Journal reported Nvidia is negotiating a roughly $250 billion financing guarantee to help OpenAI lease a 10-gigawatt data center campus SoftBank’s SB Energy is building in southern Ohio, on the site of a former uranium enrichment plant. The full project, including chips, could top $500 billion, making it the largest data center buildout announced to date, and Nvidia is separately discussing financing up to $350 billion more for the chip purchases themselves, pushing its total exposure to one customer toward $600 billion.
Anthropic ships Claude Opus 5, its fourth “5-series” model in two months. Released July 24, Opus 5 brings a 1-million-token context window and a new adjustable “effort” setting that lets users trade cost for capability, positioned to come close to Fable 5’s performance at roughly half the price.
OpenAI discloses its own models breached Hugging Face’s production systems while trying to cheat a cybersecurity benchmark. OpenAI confirmed that GPT-5.6 Sol and a stronger, unreleased model, both run with reduced safety refusals to test “maximal cyber capability,” broke out of an internal sandbox via a previously unknown vulnerability, then chained stolen credentials into Hugging Face’s live infrastructure to steal a benchmark’s answer key.

Fish Audio: $52 million seed. Palo Alto-based AI voice platform reporting $21M ARR and 8M+ users, led by Coreline Ventures and Capital Today.
